New Stash...

Woohoo........I love when the mailman brings me goodies!!!!!!!!!

FaLaLa by Little House Needleworks and Lizzie Kate Be Blox came today from Downsunshine Lane (Thanks Amy!!) I ordered this to join Vonna's SAL and it couldn't travel alone so I got the LK to keep it company. I hope to get these stitched this year (HA, we'll see)
And I won this from Angela
and it traveled all the way from Canada. I actually got it a few days ago, I just haven't posted the photo til today. (thank you Angela, I love it all). Look at all the snowman goodies in this giveaway. Angela was way too generous. And I didn't have any of these already so I have lots of snowmen to stitch this winter!!!

We are heading out of town on Tuesday - Sunday. Hope everyone has a Very Blessed Thanksgiving.

What Are you Stitching????

I have been blogging so much about thrifted items lately but I originally started this blog as a cross stitch blog. It seems I have "focus" issues, LOL!!!
I will show off what I've been stitching on....It's not much but I manage to get a stitch here and there!!!
The first is an embroidery for a friend's wedding. I just found out the bride is using mostly browns and I'm doing this in black....should I start over??
The second is a Christmas stocking for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's by Bent Creek. The chart calls for lots of purple which is pretty just not my style, so I changed it to lots of green and white. I will also add some red for the traditional Christmas colors. Mr. Electrician (Husband) has a stitched stocking and so does DD. I made theirs several years ago and just never got around to making myself one. I hope I get this done before THIS Christmas so I can enjoy it hanging.
Stick around to find out.....................:-)

Fall!!!

As we headed out of the marina, this was what we saw; wonderful fall sunshine!!!

We spent a beautiful weekend on our boat. This was our view while we sat at anchor.

I have managed to find a few goodies lately; this fall runner was .99! I love the leaves all over it and the long fringe. It was in perfect condition and it fits on my piano.

The 2 cross stitch pics are from several years ago. I know one is a Lizzie Kate design but the Be Ye Thankful is from "unknown" cuz I can't remember who!!!

I stopped by Hobby Lobby and look at the halloween goodies I got for 80% off!!! All of this was a whopping $10.89 including tax.

I can't wait to put these little buttons on this felted bracelet. The pumpkin buttons are so cute. I made this bangle bracelet from a felted, thrifted wool sweater. I am going to offer these in my Etsy shop soon!

And last but not least, this cute little cross stitch sailboat is finally finished. I mounted it on a mat board with a very thin layer of batting. I think this will be made into a wall hanging or door knob hanger. I'm just excited to have something finished. I think this was by Rainbow Galleries but it was a freebie...that I do remember :-)

Thanks for visiting!

Exchange received

I participated in a "fall" exchange on Brooke's Books board on Yahoo; this is what I sent to Terry in SC. She emailed that it was received. I really enjoyed making this needlebook. I made myself one too but mine has no stitchy cuteness on the front like Terry's does, LOL!!!

This was made from a "passport" book I picked up at hobby lobby (I actually bought all they had) and surprisingly my sewing machine just buzzed right thru the "vinyl" covering when adding the needle pages. The orange felt back the pumpkin is a "thrifted" sweater. I added felt pages for the needles. I included a few more goodies

Giftie received and a giveaway

Can you tell the difference between these 2 photos:

For starters, I took away the LK Fright Nite stitching for Halloween and added the "Be Ye Thankful" and "Autumn" stitching but the most wonderful part is this:

It's this WONDERFUL pillow that I received from Terry in SC for a swap on Brooke's Books site. Isn't it the cutest!!!!! I received it on Friday right before DH and left for a lake visit. We are heading out on the boat this morning to admire the beautiful fall leaves in Northern Alabama (believe it or not, we have mountains here and lots of fall foliage) and then we'll head back into the marina where we keep our boat docked and drag our TV outside so we can all watch Alabama football vs LSU. (should be a nail biter game!)
But I had to post this for all to see! Thank you so much Terry; It's so wonderful!!!
Also, check out this giveaway . Actually don't go see because I REALLY. WANT. TO. WIN. THIS!!!! LOL!!!
Everyone have a great weekend.......................ROLL TIDE!

Trash to Treasure

All of this

became this

And this glider also got a makeover

I purchased all of this at various times from yard sales, thrift stores and even "inherited" some when my parents cleaned out my grandparents house several years ago. We had to replace some boards on our deck and I figured while the furniture was off the deck while DH worked on it, I would just repaint it all. This project started in JUNE! I cannot believe how one thing led to another and another, etc. I have been trying to get this done for about 4 months now. We've had so much rain that on weekends when I'd want to paint, it would rain. I FINALLY got it all painted and put back up. (I'm sure my neighbors are glad; my back yard looked like a flea market most of the summer, LOL) Of course, I still have to recover two seat cushions but we just had a Joann open in Birmingham and I'm heading there this week for fabric. I have 2 tables that the tops were either rotten or crumbling (tile) so those have to be replaced. DH wants me to tile them but I'm not sure I'm up to that project. I will get it done soon though. We don't use this much in the wintertime so I've got a little while before we're ready to really enjoy this space.

I put the glider on the front porch by the door but I didn't take a pic of my whole front porch. It's very LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGG and narrow. I really need 4 rocking chairs but this time of year it's so hard to find any outdoor furniture. I'll probably just leave it until spring and then get the 4 rocking chairs.

WINNER!!!!!!

I chose the old fashioned drawing. I wrote down all the names, cut them in little bitty pieces and put them all in this cute little bowl (from the thrift store of course!)
Sadie is the WINNER. She's in Scotland and I just sent her an email. I will get this in the mail this week as soon as I'm done constructing one little part. :-) I don't know how long it'll take to wing it's way to Scotland, but as soon as it arrives, I will post the whole package I'm sending.
Thank you to all that entered.
Happy Sunday.

One more Fob and last call for Giveaway...........

I had a few minutes this morning before DD and I went to "preview day" at a local college and I sat down and whipped this little baby out. I attached to my "breast cancer" scissors that I received in a swap. I just LOVE these scissors and now I have a fob for them. I have 11 pairs of scissors and 5 are still "nekked" :-)
I need to get busy with these beaded fobs and make a few more!
Also, if you'd like to enter my giveaway (see post below) then you have the rest of tonight. I will draw sometime tomorrow. I have a couple of small goodies to include with the drawing but I'll leave that as a surprise!
Thanks for visiting!

Lookie what I made.............

It's a new fob from an "upcycled" bracelet.

I bought this Halloween bracelet a few years ago but never wore it. I work on a computer all day and the "clicking and clacking" of the charms used to drive me batty (hehehe....a little halloween humor there) so I decided to "upcycle it.

I am rather pleased with my new treasure. :-)

I love stitched fobs but the few that I have are hanging on a bulletin board in my craft room. I like the beaded fobs for actually use; they seem "sturdier" to me and they don't get dirty from all the handling.

thanks for visiting.....................I'm heading to bed; 4am comes way too early!

Pumpkins everywhere..................

I've seen these all over the internet; I've been blog-hopping and I "HAD" to have one. I bought myself a $2.49 pumpkin and promptly painted it white. I added a "P" for our last name but it needed something else, so I painted black polka-dots and I LOVE IT!

Also, don't forget my giveaway (see posts below) if you are interested in the Sublime Stitching Embroidery Kit. This kit is full of goodies: 2 tea towels, floss, needle, hoop and about 30 transfer designs.
You have until Halloween to register; just leave me a comment on that post.
thanks for visiting.

FAIR WARNING - HEAVY PICS.........(all pics are clickable to view larger)....

Hey everyone! I'm finally able to post after a very busy weekend. Inlaws were here visiting; they left Monday morning. I promised I'd share stitchy things and thrifty things, so here goes:
The first is an acorn XS by Twisted Threads. Now, does my stitched piece look ANYTHING at all like the pic on the chart?????????? NO!

I used the conversion in the chart but it's NOTHING like the front of the chart. I HATE when that happens. So........what was I to do, but start over :-) Here's "MY" conversion which I like MUCH better. I started this over on Friday while at the doctor's office.

I got home earlier than expected and told MIL to get in the car and let's go have some fun! My MIL is a great lady and a real trooper at 72. She can outshop anyone in a thrift store. She's actually the person that first introduced me to "thrifting and upcycling". She's probably never hear the word upcycle, but she's the queen :-) We found some treasures: 3 glass jars for .99 each. I will fill them up with something but not sure what yet.

I found this small bookcase. I am going to paint it black and put it in my kitchen. It was $9.99

This small pink cabinet is for doll clothes! I have 15 nieces and nephews; one of the girls will be getting this little baby once it refurbished for Christmas. It was a WHOPPING $2.99!

The striped sweater is 100% wool and it'll get "felted" for some goodies. The orange sweater is also 100% wool. DD said she can just "see" pumpkin pincushions made from this - YUM! (I plan to open my Etsy shop back up and am collecting stuff to make stuff with). I also bought 3 100% cashmere sweaters but don't have those pics. Wonder where the photos went????

The white Christmas pic is a small wood shelf. I plan to change out the photo and hang this along with the red grist mill crewel pic in my guest room.

The next 3 photos are XS magazines and charts. Most were .79 each.

If you're still with me, this last item is to me, the BEST TREASURE of the day.
Sublime Stitching Embroidery kit.
I found 2 that were BRAND NEW, NEVER opened. I could not believe it. I love to embroidery as much as I love to cross stitch. I was dancing around in the thrift store. I snapped up both of these babies, but I only need one - SOOOOOOOOOOOO as a reward for all of my treasures, I'm going to have a give away.

If you post a comment here, that will get you 1 entry. If you post a link on your blog and email me and let me know, that will get you another entry. I'll leave this contest up until Halloween and then draw the lucky winner. (I may include another goodie in the package too, but won't tell what that might be) hehehehe......
Thanks for sticking with me on this LONGGGGGGGGGGGG post. Hope you enjoyed your visit

FALL!

I finally have a few fall items out on display (can't find my candles for the candlelabra so guess I'll have to buy more, darn :-) and a stitching finish! I am home today from work. I was achy and freezing cold by the time I got home Tues evening. I went to bed early and decided to do the "wait and see" today. If I'm coming down with something, I certainly didn't want to spread it around at work.
I took these photos over the weekend but am just now getting around to posting.
Pics are "clickable" if you want to see them up close.
Enjoy!

Thrifty treasures, New treasures, Surprise treasures......

I had to go to the dentist today and ventured to the thrift store on my way home. Look at my new goodies I found:

all of these were less than $2.98 each!!! I can't wait til I can put my feet up tonight and browse thru them. I'm sure I'll find tons I want to stitch.

NEW STASH: My order from Amy at Down Sunshine Lane came yesterday and oh what wonderful treasures in that package:

AND: if you are my partner for Brooke's books exchange - STOP READING NOW - :-)

This shows what I've stitched and some of the components of what's to come. I just have to get it all put together but I'm not telling what it's going to be; you'll have to wait to find out from here or if you're my partner, you'll find out sooner when it goes in the mail.

I haven't picked up a needle in about a week. Have had "teeth" issues and then our little trip to the beach over the weekend kinda got me out of my routine. I also have another Oct stitchy project (all stitching is complete) just gotta get it made into a "finish". I'll save that for another day. The weather is gorgeous here; Sunny, breezy and just a slight hint of fall in the air!

Have a good one!

New stash.......woohoo....

I just placed an order with Amy at Downsunshine Lane; she's having a big sale for the new stuff coming out at market. Today is the last day so go check it out.

I'll post photos of what I ordered as soon as it arrives. But this is one item I ordered:
Also, I've got 2 projects that I'm actually finishing but no photos of that yet either. I finished my stitching for the exchange for Brooke's Book Board and that is one of my finishes I'm working on.

But....I'm heading to the beach this afternoon for the weekend.................yeah!!! It's a good day for sure; sun is shining and I can already smell the salt water and I'm not even there yet.

Everyone have a good weekend.

The SUN is shining!!!!!! woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've had tons and tons of rain in the last few weeks; we're starting to grow fins around here. This has been the rainiest, wettest summer I remember. We even had a few mornings in mid-july that got into the upper 50's and that's UNHEARD of in the south. I don't like it either; I'm a warm/hot weather girl. I don't like the sticky humidity, but I like the weather sunny and warm. Almost every weekend this summer's had at least some rain and the mosquitos are super bad this year. But I woke up this morning to glorious sunshine and I'm so thankful!!!!
I've been stitching this week also. This is probably going to be an exchange but I won't mention on what board in case the recipient reads my blog. I'm not sure yet how I'll finish it but it's a cute little pumpkin freebie I found at Cross Stitch Happy blog. Guess you'll have to come back and see how it turns out :-)

Happy Sunday everyone!
